Juliette Aristides (b. 1971) is a mid-career artist living in Seattle, Washington. She has studied at The National Academy of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Aristides is an Elizabeth Greenshields Grant recipient.

Juliette Aristides is actively dedicated to rebuilding a traditional arts education in the United States. She was an original member of the Water Street Atelier and currently teaches at The Seattle Academy of Fine Art, where she founded the award winning Classical Atelier Program. Aristides is a regular contributor to Artist Magazine and has published two books; Classical Drawing Atelier and Classical Painting Atelier.

Aristides’ brushwork is comprised of expressive, flowing strokes, giving each object she paints a sense of movement. Her palette is bold and lively, and she pursues a variety of subjects from perfectly composed still lifes to dramatic figurative work. Her work invites the viewer to share an inner world as she explores her identity through the roles of artist, teacher, historian and mother. The drawings are examples of her extraordinary draftsmanship, and provide a glimpse into the complex structure of her seemingly effortless painting style.

Sadie Valeri (b. 1971) is an internationally recognized oil painter and art instructor. Sadie studied drawing and painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, earning her BFA in Illustration in 1993. In her early thirties she discovered the emerging movement of 19th century-based Classical art training, and continued her education with masters of Realism including Ted Seth Jacobs, Juliette Aristides, and Michael Grimaldi. Since her first major show of paintings in 2009, her body of work has attracted significant honors including First Prize for Still Life in the 2010 Art Renewal Center International Salon. Her paintings, evocative of the Dutch Golden Age of still life, have been acquired by many prestigious collections including the New Britain Museum of American Art.

Elizabeth Zanzinger is an award-winning painter with an enthusiastic international following. She developed her artistic voice through her studies at the Aristides Atelier and Gage Academy of Fine Art in Seattle. Elizabeth finished her education with a fellowship award (Grand Prize, 2nd Annual Utrecht Art Competition) at the Grand Central Academy, New York City, in 2012. Since then she has completed a number of commissioned portraits of accomplished individuals, including former Chief Justice Ronald M. George of the California Supreme Court. This year she served as an honored faculty member for the Portrait Society of America Conference in Washington DC. Her recent work will also be out in several books this Fall.

Elizabeth’s paintings echo the traditional skills gained from a disciplined classical training, although the work often celebrates non-traditional subjects. Through expert painting from life and rhythmic compositions she imbues mundane subjects with a sense of beauty and wonder. Using strong drawing abilities, skilled brushwork, and luminous color she has combined approaches from multiple influences to create her own unique approach to painting. Her work is often loaded with detail, and yet her brushwork can be loose to give breath and movement to the images.
