Sean Cheetham: Portrait Drawing Workshop

This workshop will focus on learning to draw the portrait from li. from direct observation beginning with line and progressing into full tonal studies.  Students will learn to simplify and organize their drawings based on shape, placement, tone and edges. The instructor will be doing multiple demos each day.  Don’t miss this opportunity to study with one of the great modern painters of our time.

Sean Cheetham is a contemporary oil painter whose training is steeped in traditional portraiture. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. His remarkable skill at creating rich layers to capture the subtle nuances of his subjects hearken back to the old masters, yet the work is undeniably fresh. He chooses to paint his friends; he portrays them with a
gripping honesty that captivates the viewer. Sean has exhibited at the National Portrait gallery in London in 2005 where he was included in the prestigious BP Portrait award show. His self portrait “Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams…” was at the National Portrait gallery at the Smithsonian in Washington DC. Sean lives and teaches painting in Los Angeles.
