Teresa Oaxaca: Alla Prima Portraiture

by Matthew Innis |

study_2

This workshop will focus on painting the portrait in oil using the Alla Prima method.  In Italian Alla Prima means “at first attempt” and is a technique in which the artist makes an oil sketch in one day while the paint is still wet.  The first day of class will begin with an instructor demonstration of grisaille painting (monochrome) from the live model, after which the students will paint the same pose in grisaille and then move on to a full color palette.
