Nanci France-Vaz: The Narrative Portrait

by nancifrancevaz |

Description
The class is a fusion of classical methods and contemporary techniques in painting. The focus is creating a narrative, while capturing the character of the model to evoke human presence. Starting with strong composition design by producing thumbnail value sketches, and moving into the Block-in, emphasis will be on structural planes and anatomical points of the skull, value relationships, varied edges, realistic flesh-tone mixing and understanding temperature changes to create a 3 dimensional form on a 2 dimensional surface. There will be a weekly demo with one on one instruction.

Contemporary techniques of dry brush, drip, and palette knife will be demonstrated. Open for all levels with some experience in portrait drawing and painting.
