Casey Childs: 2-Day Portrait Drawing Workshop
by Matthew Innis |2-day portrait drawing workshop taught by artist Casey Childs focusing on building a stronger foundation in traditional portraiture. Students will work from a live model to create a convincing, lifelike portrait in charcoal. This workshop is open to artists of all skill levels interested in improving their ability in traditional charcoal drawing.
Students will create a portrait over the duration of the workshop from a live model. Technical instruction will be supplemented with brief lectures and demonstrations to learn Casey’s drawing process. Casey will also assist students individually during the workshop.
Artists, ranging from beginning to advanced, will have the opportunity to work from a live model, and will receive one-on-one instruction gaining a fuller knowledge of traditional portraiture. This class is definitely not for the casual hobbyist but for the serious artist who wants to take his/her art career to the next level.
Class Description:
Students will work from a live model each day to create a convincing, lifelike portrait. The workshop will cover key concepts including construction of the head, light & shadow, shapes, values & edges, use of charcoal medium, studio practices and proper use of materials.
Who:
Classes are open to artists, ranging from beginning to advanced, interested in taking his/her art career to the next level. The size of the group will be limited to 8 to optimize the learning experience so book fast.

October 23-24, 2017, 10am – 4pm (1 hr break for lunch).
