Keeping Up ApPEARances

Years ago I was having a conversation with a friend about sustaining a career in the arts.  He was represented by a couple of small galleries and was living entirely off his art sales, and I was hoping he might have some advice for me so that I could enjoy the same success. Here is what he suggested to me:

“You should paint pears.”
