Plein Air Painting with James Kroner

by caryjur@gmail.com |

In this plein air workshop, James will share how he captures the incredible awareness of light and atmosphere which hallmark his paintings, making them glow with an ethereal, lively vitality. Demonstrations will show how he makes artistic decisions in the painting process in order to capture a striking sense of realism in some areas, while diverging into an orchestral arrangement of tone and color in others, which dissolves away from form altogether, yet maintain a wonderful harmony.

Our plein air destinations each day will be chosen to take advantage of the varied landscapes of Langley and Sourh Whidbey Island. The workshop requires nothing beyond a thirst to improve one’s painting skills and basic basic plein air supplies: easel/pochade box, limited palette of colors, brushes, and panels.

James welcomes students of all levels into his classes. This class is limited to fourteen students in order to assure ample personal interaction.
