Self Portrait with a Limited Palette

by Aleksandr Zolotarevskiy |

The Self Portrait has been a tradition for artists through the millennia, serving as both a historical document and window into the interior of the artists being. There is a quality and intensity in the way we observe when drawing and painting. Turning this level of awareness back on ourselves is a revealing and inspiring process.

During this 4 day Workshop we will create a drawing on toned paper, transfer it to a panel or canvas and a self portrait from life using a mirror. I will demonstrate and give individual instruction each day. We will work with a structured technique and a limited palette of 7 colors. The benefit of a limited palette is that it helps us refine our understanding of color relationships.
