DAVID GRAY

The Portrait From Life

Date: October 24-27, 2016

Cost: $660 plus model fee

Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced

David Gray is an award winning oil painter known for his still life and human subject paintings rendered in a style reminiscent of the French Neoclassical painters Jacques-Louis David and his student Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. Working from the live model David will take you step by step through the process he uses in creating his professional works.  From initial under-drawing though final glazes learn to build your painting in a series of layers that will help you effectively translate the observed model into an elegant and refined portrait. This study will also include some information on color mixing and color theory as it relates to light and form.

Comment about David Gray’s Still Life workshop:
I found the David Gray workshop to be quite beneficial and process oriented with explanations and demos on his thinking while painting. Certainly helped me to rethink my process. Of course his work is impeccable and he was straight forward and honest about his technique. I would take the class again. I would like to thank him. Of course you were the perfect host and attended all needs, thanks.
